Lately, number of domain name thefts taking place in online world is increasing. There are several reasons as how you can loose your domain name and not able to prove that you were the real owner of the domain name in question. Instantly a question pops up as what is the best way to protect a domain name from being stolen.

Recently many registrars announced a dip in pricing for .INFO domain names. As per the .INFO promotion, pricing for any new .INFO domain name for an End User has come down to Rs. 121/= (plus / minus Rs. 15 depending on the Registrar). Earlier .INFO domain names were being sold in between Rs. 400/= to Rs. 500/= per domain year.

DotRegistrar (www.dotregistrar.com), one of the leading domain registration service providers, is in the process of upgrading all its client accounts and domains to the MyDomain.com Registrar system. As per a notice on www.dotrgeistrar.com, DotRegistrar will become part of MyDomain, in the coming weeks. With this upgradation some of the features of Dot Registrar have gone while some new features (free services) like URL Forwarding, Email Forwarding and DNS management has been added. However, this comes at a cost to existing clients of Dot Registrar.

What the Problem is?
Mostly in India and moreover all over the world, it’s a rampant practice followed by so called web designers to register their client’s domain names with their own (web designers and not clients’) details. This is a complete lose-lose situation for clients. So called web designers’ first motive is to ensure that they take control of their clients’ domain names so that the client has no choice but to stay with the same designer, or lose his domain name in the process.
