updated: Starting 24th March, Anubhooti Internet is offering all new .IN registrations at Rs. 250/= (US$ 5) per year including .co.in, .net.in, .org.in etc.
After a promotional price cut in 2007 for all .IN registrations, today once again many registrars announced a dip in pricing for all second and third level .IN domain names. As the .IN promotion goes on, pricing for any new .IN domain name has come down to Rs. 500/= (plus / minus Rs. 50 depending on the Registrar). Earlier second level .IN domain names were being sold at Rs. 800/=. Pricing for new third level .IN domain names have come down to Rs. 375/= in comparison to earlier selling rate of Rs. 450/=. Starting 2100 Hrs IST, Today, .TEL will be available for registration to all on first come first served basis. Sunrise period for .TEL started on 03.December.2008 and landrush period started from 03.February.09. Now, anyone can register this tld through ICANN accredited registrars. General Availability registrations will carry a one-year minimum term and are subjected to the standard registration conditions depicted by the regisrar company. Come October 1st, and after an increase in domain name prices in 2007, Verisign is again exercising its contractual right to raise prices. The base registration fees for .com domain names will be hiked to $6.86 from existing $6.42 per .com domain for all registrars. Currently, registrars pay VeriSign $6.42 per .com domain name. This price hike is within maximum 7 percent increase allowable under VeriSign’s contract (which runs through 2012) with ICANN. (more…)

Today, wordpress.com made an announcement to upgrade free upload space by 6o times from 50mb to 3000mb for all wordpress blogs hosted on it. This upgrade will give its’ users freedom to blog rich media withour having to worry about storage space left in their wordpress account. Google is known for doing things in its’ own style. Started with 2 GB mail box facility (besides other features), now Gmail is about to reach a mark where it seems to touch a new height. As evident from attached screen shot it is about to touch 6GB storage space and it’s still couting. Perhaps a time will come when you will be able to get unlimited storage space from Gmail like Yahoo! and few others. And mind you, it’s all for free. You need not shell out a single cent for this.
Now, this is what can be called a real new year gift in true style.
Till now I am using a 19″ monitor and I thought it was ok but recently I read a post on http://blog.domaintools.com and I was aghast. You know what?? Jay Westerdal of http://domaintools.com is working with Quad (four) monitors plugged in to one cpu. He has setup this using just Windows XP with two Nvidia Quadro FX 570 video cards and all these monitors add up to 11,720,000 (11.7 million) pixels. Quite impressive. Don’t belive me……Just go to this page and read all about it yourself. Jay claims that his productivity has increased by 10 minutes a day by using this quad monitor setup. It doesn’t stop here. Few visitors to his blog has expressed almost similar feelings. I am still in dreamworld. You better head to the original post.
